Armed with the freshly acquired trend insights from the fall/winter fashion week, The Curly Mode brings you a front row take on how to adorn the some of the season’s biggest trends right from the runway to the streets and as always effortlessly.
The Fall/Winter shows had us drooling over the Khaki knits, the wrongly buttoned Puffa jackets and the cascade of pleats on nearly everything that we hold dear.
One of the biggest trends of the season is the sequins and shimmer-everything that were spotted at Michael Kors Collection and Dolce & Gabbana. Whether it’s a cocktail dress with metallic sequins or an all out futuristic look transforming a conservative evening gown, the shine always finds us season after season.
Incorporate the trend by opting for a pair of shimmer heels, a mirrored handbag or as I did in the form of a multi-coloured sequinned top. Inter-galactic power to all! (Crop Top- Loom Tree).
Next stop: The Fur Jacket. With the temperature dropping and our urge to sleep-in rising, the fur jacket is the ultimate boon. With Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo and Dsquared2 showing us that we either go big or go home in terms of volume of the jackets; this trend has taken a colorful byway and we are more than willing to hitch a ride.
Incorporate the trend by choosing fur jackets in muted tones or a single solid color without it over-bearing your outfit. I’ve decided on this gorgeous one in black over the onion-pink skirt to keep me snug while being oh-so-stylish and I only kept wishing I could take it to bed with me. Final stop: Rose, fuschia, blush, taffy, magenta, bubblegum and of course pink. An opulence of this color was visible with the likes of Gucci, Dior, and Jill Sanders sending out full fledged cotton-candy dreams down the runway. Seen in the form of accordion pleats, flirty ruffles and hints of delicate lace all dipped to surrealism in pink. (Midi skirt – Koovs original)
Incorporate this feature by going for a shade of pink that compliments your skin tone and bring girl-power to the boardroom by pitching this color into your workwear like a boss lady that you truly are.
My heart sang to the tune of this dreamy onion-pink midi skirt with lace detailing at the hem. Also, it turned out to be the perfect juxtaposition to the wild feel of the fur jacket and balances the attention from the bling top with its sober and feminine nature. Time for a few awkwardly attempted ballet pirouettes. Haha.
We’ve reached the end of our fall/winter 2016-17 Runway to Roads joyride and it has indeed been a pleasure styling this look. Also, I would love to know what was your favorite trend this season. Leave your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
